SPME Conditioning Station Troubleshooting

Observation
Vent tubing catches during
movement.
Gas cannot be vented.
This section lists the most important points to overcome a faulty or problematic situation.
CAUTION Before starting any repair step, power down the TriPlus RSH, and ensure that
the temperature inside the unit is below 50 °C to avoid any burns.
Observation
Module does not respond to
initiation step.
No purge gas flow
Purge Gas Valve does not open.
SPME Conditioning Station Troubleshooting
Recommended Action
• Check the integrity of the tubing.
Check the installation position of the MHE
Adapter Holder.
• Consider also the distance to the Agitator.
• Check the MHE Adapter for integrity.
Is the needle damaged or clogged?
Is the Vent Outlet open?
Recommended Action
• Check control cable connections.
• Check the availability of the SPME
Conditioning Station within the software.
If not available, is the TriPlus RSH configuration
laid out for liquid injection only?
• If necessary load a configuration backup prepared
for liquid, headspace and SPME technique.
• Check for a Pending Message and take corrective
actions if necessary.
• Disconnect the purge gas tube at the module side;
remove the Swagelok union and clean the frit
installed.

• Manually move the valve pin up and down to
check for any restriction or broken spring.
• When in doubt, contact your Thermo Fisher
Scientific representative for technical assistance.
