TriPlus RSH Hardware Manual
This section introduces the RSH Firmware and its structure.
Note Starting with the software version 2.0 the software has been renamed from
Control Software to RSH Firmware.
Please note that this term is valid for the entire software package, file extension *.cont.
The Device Firmware, which is part of the entire package, will be named specifically
Device Firmware to avoid any misunderstanding.
WARNING During any of the operations described in this section, it is mandatory that
the TriPlus RSH is connected to the power supply. If the power supply is interrupted
during a process, the booting commands may become corrupted and the TriPlus RSH can
no longer be started. In such a case the control board must be returned in the factory in
order for the boot loader to be reconfigured.
The RSH Firmware is the product name for all the software and the persisted data located on
the control or on the devices. It consists mainly of:
• Operating System (OS)
• Application Software
• Configuration — Persisted data
• Device Firmware — Firmware of all active modules which are part of the specific TriPlus
RSH configuration
• Presets — The presets define a model configuration such as liquid injection or liquid and
headspace injection technique, and so on.
Note The file extension for the RSH Firmware is *.cont
Two different backup types are available: Configuration Backup, and Diagnostic Backup.
The configuration backup can be used to restore the RSH Firmware. Therefore, both backup
file types can be used to restore the RSH Firmware.
It is important to differentiate between Restore and Update:
• The Restore file originated from the configuration backup with the extension *.pack.
• The Update file is provided by Thermo Fisher Scientific for software updating. An
Update package always contains the Operating System (OS), the Device Firmware, the
Application Software, and the Presets.
The Update file is again an encapsulated archive file with the file extension *.cont.
The Update file has to be included in a directory named Autorun.
