The syringe cleaning is advisable every 100-200 samples, particularly if the sample analyzed
contains solids in suspension, or if poorly lubricant solvents are used, such as water and
methanol.
To clean the LS/HS syringe
1. Remove the syringe from the LS/HS tool.
2. Completely take out the syringe plunger and clean it gently using a soft cloth or a paper
tissue.
3. Reintroduce the syringe plunger and gently move it repeatedly along its whole travel
drawing an organic solvent (for example Hexane).
4. Reinstall the syringe in to the tool.
WARNING - BURN HAZARD Do not touch the surface of the Trap Heater during
operation to avoid burns. The surface temperature can reach potentially harmful levels
when operated at high desorbing or cleaning temperatures. The trap surface can reach
about 270 °C if operated at the maximum trap temperature of 350 °C.
To clean the ITEX trap
1. Clean a trap initially to eliminate all volatile contaminants. A practical check is to run a
blank injection, monitor the detector baseline to check for sufficient cleanness of the trap.
WARNING Before any maintenance step is initiated, power down the TriPlus RSH.
