Chapter 20, Xgig Trace View Hints and Tips

Toolbar

The toolbar provides shortcuts to commonly used functions.

Save Button
This button saves the contents of the
trace to a new trace file. If the extent
of the original trace has been
narrowed, the subset of trace data is
saved to a file.
Open Domain Button
This button opens a domain. A dialog
box displays to select the domain
from the list of domains. If no
domains exist, the message "No
Domain(s) with a valid data
capture(s) found" is displayed.
Open Trace Button
This button opens a trace file (.trc) or
a trace group file (.tgp). Trace
contents display in the Xgig
TraceView spreadsheet display. If a
trace or domain is already opened,
all views of this trace are closed

Show Details Pane Button
Press this button to toggle between
show and hide of the Details Pane.
The Details Pane displays at the
bottom of the screen and shows you
a detailed interpretation of all the raw
data of an event.
Export Trace to File Button
This button exports the
contents of the trace to a
text file.
Open Last Domain Button
This button displays the last domain
used with TraceView on this
computer. If there is no last domain
established, this button is grayed out.
If no domains exist, an error message
is returned.
Delta Calculator Button
Exchange View Button
The Delta Calculator button
This button toggles
calculates the delta time
Exchanges View on and off.
between any two events in a
trace.
Traffic Summary Button
Press this button to toggle the
display of the Traffic Summary
pane. Enabled only for
6G and 12G SAS/SATA traces
captured with Xgig Analyzer
software version 4.3 or later and
Fibre Channel 8G and 16G
traces captured with Analyzer
version 4.5 or later.
Toolbar
Spreadsheet Options Button
The spreadsheet options
button allows you to
customize the spreadsheet
display of trace data. You can
set up ports with different
colors, or change the font and
gridlines of the spreadsheet.
Bookmarked Event Pull Down
The pull down menu in the Xgig
TraceView toolbar contains all
bookmarks. Selecting a bookmark
takes you to that event in the trace.
When you pull-down the box, it
expands horizontally to include all
bookmark information.
