1.The Es/No performance numbers for 1-30Msps are based on the DVB-S2 Standard. The 30-45Msps
performance numbers are derived by adding 0.2dB to DVB-S2 1-30Msps numbers to meet the higher
sampling rate requirements.
2.Modem back-to-back operation includes LNB and tuner phase noise and RF up-conversion of the
modulator output from 70MHz to the input range for the tuner (950 - 2150MHz).
3.The Es/No numbers specified are for symbol rate 30Msps to 36Msps. Above 36Msps the Es/No
performance for MODCODs 12,13,14,15,16,17 will be worse by [TBD] dB.
4.Pilot mode is required for MODCODs 11, 12, 13, and 14 for symbol rates above 20Msps.
5.For Modcods 12 through 15 inclusive, when operating with Pilot Tone Off, Es/No of at least 10dB is
required to achieve QEF.
6.ModCods 12 through 17 inclusive are not supported for operation above 35Msps with normal codeblock
length.
7.The AIS and ACM System System Design Document{7} should be referenced for DVB-S2 operational
recommendations.
