Air Cleaner Element
Visually check the air cleaner element for excessive dirt, dam-
age or oil. Clean with compressed air if necessary.
ADJUSTMENT
Idle Speed
1. Attach suitable reflector tape to the crankshaft pulley.
2. Runthe engine at idle at normal operating temperature'. Turn
off all unnecessary electrical loads.
3. Confirm the free play of the accelerator cable .
Free play: 1.0-3.0mm (0.039-0.118 in)
4. Aim the light of the photo tachometer onto the reflecting tape
to measure the engine speed.
Idle speed: 600-650 rpm
5. If not as specified loosen the locknut of the idle adjusting
bolt and turn the bolt to adjust the idle.
6. Tighten the locknut.
Tightening torque:
5.9-8.8 N·m (0.6-0.9 rn-kg, 4.3-7.2 ft-Ib)

Note
• Usually it is enough to confirm

the external
marks are aligned. ,
• Set the injection timing after installment of the in-
jection pump.
