This is an advantage since all applicable functions in the IED use a single source of base
values. This facilitates consistency throughout the IED and also facilitates a single point
for updating values when necessary.
Each applicable function in the IED has a parameter, GlobalBaseSel, defining one out of
the twelve sets of GBASVAL functions.

Setting guidelines

VBase: Phase-to-phase voltage value to be used as a base value for applicable functions
throughout the IED.
IBase: Phase current value to be used as a base value for applicable functions throughout
the IED.
SBase: Standard apparent power value to be used as a base value for applicable functions
throughout the IED, typically SBase=√3·VBase·IBase.
Signal matrix for binary inputs SMBI
Application
The Signal matrix for binary inputs function SMBI is used within the Application
Configuration tool in direct relation with the Signal Matrix tool. SMBI represents the way
binary inputs are brought in for one IED configuration.
Setting guidelines
There are no setting parameters for the Signal matrix for binary inputs SMBI available to
the user in Parameter Setting tool. However, the user shall give a name to SMBI instance
and the SMBI inputs, directly in the Application Configuration tool. These names will
define SMBI function in the Signal Matrix tool. The user defined name for the input or
output signal will also appear on the respective output or input signal.
