Measure t h e runout with a d i a l gauge. Replace t h e camshaft
if the ru nout exceeds the limit.

P u l l t h e chain tight to remove any slack, t h e n u s i n g venier
calipers, measure the 20-pitch ( 2 1 pins) length of cam chain .
If it measures more than the l im it replace the cam chain .
Service Limit : 1 28 . 9 mm (5.07 in)
CYLI N D E R D ISTORTION
Check the gasketed surface of the cylinder for distortion with
a straightedge and thickness gauge, taking a clearance read­
ing at several pl aces as indicated . If the l argest reading at
any positon of the straightedge exceeds the l im its, replace
the cyl i n d er .
Service Limit : 0 . 05 mm (0.002 in)
CYLI N D E R BO R E
Measure t h e cylinder bore diameter a t six places. If any one
of the measurements exceeds the limit, overhaul the cylinder
and replace the piston with a n oversize, or replace the
cyl inder.

Using a micrometer, measu re t h e piston outside d i ameter
at the place 1 5 m m (0. 6 in) from the skirt end as shown
in Fig . If the measurement is less than l imit, repl ace the

piston .
