IGNITION COIL
Checking with electro tester
Remove the ignition coil from the fra m e .
Test the ignition coil for sparking performance. The test con­
nection is as indicated . M a ke sure that the th ree-need l e
s parking d i stance is a t least 8 m m . If no sparking or orange
color sparking occurs with this much gap, then it is d efec­
:
tive and must be replalced .
STO Spark performance : 8 m m ( 0 . 3 in)

Disconnect the C O l unit lead wire s .
Check the continuity a n d measure t h e resistance values with

NO TE:
As capacitors, diodes, etc. are used inside this COl unit, the resistance values will deffer when an
ohmmeter other than SUZUKI pocket tester is used.
NO TE:
Remove the spark plug and place the spark plug on the cylinder head co ver kick the engine and check
the sparks of the spark plug. If no sparking at spark plug gap, replace the COl unit or inspect the
magneto coils, ignition coils and spark plug. If the magneto coils, ignition coils and spark plug checked
are correct, the COl unit may be faulty, replace the COl unit with a new one.
