ADJUSTING
Tu rn both c h a i n adj usters CD u ntil the chain has 2 5 - 40
m m of slack at the middle between engine a n d rear
sprockets . The n u m ber
be at the same position to ensure that the front a n d rear
wheels are correctly aligned . Place the motorcycle on the
side stand for accurate adjustment.
Drive chain slack: 2 5 - 40 m m ( 1 .0 - 1 . 6 in)
After adjusting the d rive chain slack, tighten the axle nut
to the specified torq u e .
Tightening torque
Rear axle nut: 8 5 - 1 1 5 N·m
( 8 . 5 - 1 1 . 5 kg-m , 6 1 . 5 - 83 . 0 Ib-ft)
CLEANING A N D LUBRICATING
Wash the chain with kerosene. If the chain ten d s to rust

faster, the interval s must be shortened .
CAUTION :
Do not use trichlene, gasoline or any similar fluids: These
fluids have too great a dissolving power for this chain and,
what is more important, can damage the "0" rings (or seals)
confining the grease in the bush-to-pin clearance . Remem­
ber, high durability comes from the presence of g rease in
that clearance .
After washing and d rying the chain, oil it with a
heavyweight motor oil .
CAUTION :
Do not use any oil sold commercially as "drive chain oil " .
Such oil can damage the "0" rings (or seals).

The standard drive chain is DAIDO D . I . D . 520VC5 or
T AKASAGO RK520S0 SUZUKI recommends that the
above-mentioned standard drive chain be used for the
replacement.
BRAKES
I nspect Initial 5 Hours·and Every 30 Hours
Replace hoses Every 4 years
Replace (change) fluid Every 2 years

BRAKE FLUID LEVEL
Keep the motorcycle u pright and place the handlebar
straight.
