S PA R K PLUG
Inspect Every 30 Hours and Replace Every 60 Hours
The plug g a p is adjusted to 0. 8 - 0 . 9 m m ( 0 . 0 3-0 . 04 i n ) .
The gap i s correctly adjusted with a thickness gauge. When
carbon is deposited on the spark plug, remove the carbon
d eposits with wire or pin . If the electrodes are extremely
worn or b u rnt, repl ace the plug . Also replace the plug if it
has a broken insulator, damaged thread , etc .
N G K D P R 9EA-9 or N I PPON D E N SO X 2 7 E PR-U 9 as listed i n
the table should b e used a s the standard plug. H owever, the
heat range of the plug should be selected to meet the re
quirements of speed , actual load, fuel, etc . If the p l u g need
to be replaced, it is recommended that the stan da rd plug
l isted in the table be selected . Remove the plug a nd i nspect
the insu l ator. Proper heat range wou l d be i n d icated if it in
su lator was light brown in color. If it is b l ackened by car
bon, it s h o u l d be replaced by a hot type N G K D PR 8 EA-9 or
N I PPON D ENSO X24EPR- U 9 .
NO TE:
To check the spark plug, first make sure that the fuel tank
con tains unleaded gasoline, and after a test ride if the plug
is soo ty with carbon or burnt white, replace it.
NO TE:
Confirm the thread size and reach when replacing the plug.
If the reach is too short, carbon will be depoisted on the
screw p ortion of the plug hole and engine damage may
reslut.
NO TE:
type spark plug is installed for some specifications.
"R"
type spark plug has a resistor located at the center electrode
to prevent radio noise.
SPARK ARRESTER
•
•
Clean Every 30 Hours
Remove the drain bolt.
•
Start the engine and rev it to blow out the accu m u l ated
carbon particles.
Stop the engine, and instal l the d rain bolt securely .
WARNING :
Only clean the spark arrester in an open area away from com
bustible materials . Exhausted hot carbon particles can start
a fire .
