2· 1 1 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE A N D TUNE·UP PROCEDURES
Check the brake fluid level by observing the u pper (only
•
for rear brake) and lower (both front and rear brake) limit
lines o n the brake fluid reservoirs .
When the level is below the lower limit line, replenish with
:
brake fluid that meets the following specificati o n .

WARNIN G :
The brake system of this motorcycle i s filled with a glycol­
based brake fluid . Do not use or mix different types of fluid
such as silicone-based and petroleum-based . Do not use any
brake fluid taken from old , used or unsealed containers .
Never re-use the brake fluid left over from the last servicing
and stored for long periods .
WARNI N G :
Brake fluid, i f i t leaks, will interfere with safe running and
immediately discolor painted surfaces .
Check the brake hoses for cracks and hose joints for leak­
age before riding .
BRAKE PADS
Wearing cond ition of brake pads can be checked by observ­

ing the groove (front and rear calipers) marked on the pad .
When the wear exceeds the limit mark, replace the pads with
new ones. (Refer to p ages 6- 6 and 6- 2 3 . )

BRAKE LEVER PLAY

Adjust the front brake lever play as fol lows.
Loosen the lock nut
Tu rn the adjuster @ in or out to obtain the correct play

Tighten the lock nut

BRAKE PEDAL H EIGHT
Loosen the lock nut @ and sto pper bolt ®.
•
Loosen the lock n ut
brake pedal 5 mm below the top face of the footrest .
•
Retighten the l ock nut
t h e pro per position .
•
Tighten the stopper bolt ® so that the clearance between
the sto pper bolt and stopper is zero.
Tighten the lock nut @ securly.
