IGN ITI O N AN D STARTER SYSTEM ( DR350SER)
DESCRIPT I O N
The capacitor d ischarged ignition system consists o f a signal generator, C O l u nit, ignition coil and
spark plug . The electrical energy generated by the sig nal generator charges the capacitor. This energy
is released in a single surge at the specified ignition timing point, and current flows through the primary
side of the ignition coi l . A high voltage current is induced in the secondary windings of the ignition
coil resultin g i n strong spark between the spark plug gap. Ignition cut-off circuit is incorporated in
the C O l u nit. If the crankshaft turns in the reverse direction and reverse current is produ ced , this cir­
cuit works on the capacitor to cut off the primary current of the ignition coil . It causes no sparking
between s park plug gap.
The starter system consists of a side-stand switch, neutral switch, clutch switch and side-stand re­
lay. This function is to supply the current from the battery to the side-stand relay and starter relay
only when the transmission gear is at the neutral position or when the side-stand is at the u pright
position .
