DR3 50S motorcycles are equipped with precision, m a nufactured carburetors for emission level con­
trol . These car�uretors requ i re special mixture control components and other percision adjustments
to function properly.
There are several carburetor mixtu re control compone nts in each carburetor assembly. Three (3) of
thses components are machined to much closer tolerances than standard machined carburetor jets.
These three (3) particular jets - MA I N J ET, N EEDLE J ET, PI LOT J ET - must not be replaced by stan­
dard jets . To aid i n identifying these three (3) jets a d ifferent design of letter and n umber are used.
If replacement of these close tolerance jets becomes n ecessary, be sure to replace them with the same
type close tolerance jets marked as i n the examples shown below.
The jet needle is also of special manufacture. Only one clip position is provided o n the jet needle.
If replacement becomes necessary the jet n eedle may only be replaced with an equivalent performing
replacement component. Suzuki recommends that Genuine Suzuki Parts be util ized whenever possi­
ble for the best possible performance and d u rability.

The pilot screw is pre-set by the factory utilizing specia lized testing and a dj u sting procedures. The
pilot screw is not adustable as the idle circuit is "sealed " after factory adj u stment. Adjusting, inter­
ferring with , im proper replacement, or resetting of a n y of the carburetor components may adversely
affect carburetor performance and cause the motorcycle to exceed the exhaust emission level limits.
If persons, who are u naware of these special carburetor servicing requirements tamper with the car­
buretors the Suzuki dealer should restore the carburetors to their original condition o r if u nable to ef­
fect repairs , contact the distributors representative for further tech nical information and assistance .
