ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
If the peak voltage measured on the CDI unit coupler is lower
than the specified value, measure the peak voltage on the
pick-up coil coupler as follows.
• Remove the rear center leg shield. ($5-6)
• Disconnect the pick-up coil coupler 1.
• Connect the multi-circuit tester with the peak volt adaptor as
follows.
+ Probe: Blue/Yellow lead wire
- Probe: Ground
Measure the pick-up coil peak voltage in the same manner as on
the CDI unit coupler.
& 09900-25008: Multi-circuit tester set
3 Tester knob indication: Voltage (2)
% Pick-up coil peak voltage: 2.0 V or more
If the peak voltage on the pick-up coil coupler is within specifica-
tion, but that on the CDI unit coupler is not within specification,
replace the wire harness with a new one. If both peak voltages
are out of specification, replace the pick-up coil with a new one.
PICK-UP COIL RESISTANCE
• Remove the rear center leg shield. ($5-6)
• Disconnect the pick-up coil coupler 1.
Measure the resistance between the lead wires using the
multi-circuit tester. If the resistance is not within the specified
value, the pick-up coil must be replaced.
& 09900-25008: Multi-circuit tester set
- Tester knob indication: Resistance (Ω)
% Pick-up coil resistance:
180 – 280 Ω (When engine is cold)
