Hard disk drives / solid state drives
7.1

Basic information

The hard disk drives or solid state drives which can be ordered for your server
are supplied already mounted in an installation frame so that defective drives
can be replaced and new drives can be added during operation. The hard disk
drive or solid state drive and the installation frame together make up the HDD
module or SSD module.
The server is shipped with one of the following HDD or SSD subsystems:
– 3.5-inch HDD subsystem:
Up to four 3.5-inch SAS/SATA HDD modules can be installed. Each HDD
module can accommodate an SAS/SATA hard disk drive with a maximum
height of 1 inch. The HDD module is connected to the HDD backplane
wirelessly. This allows HDD modules to be plugged in or pulled out easily.
Hybrid configurations of SAS and SATA HDD modules are not supported.
– 2.5-inch HDD/SSD subsystem:
Up to four (one HDD backplane), eight (two HDD backplanes) or ten (one
HDD backplane) 2.5-inch SAS/SATA HDD/SSD modules can be installed.
Each HDD/SSD module can accommodate a SAS/SATA hard disk drive or
SATA solid state drive with a 2.5-inch format. The HDD/SSD modules are
connected to the HDD backplane wirelessly. This allows HDD/SSD modules
to be plugged in or pulled out easily. If the server has a corresponding RAID
configuration, defective HDD/SSD modules can also be replaced during
operation.
Hybrid configurations of SAS and SATA HDD/SSD modules are not
supported.
