1MZ–FE ENGINE – SFI SYSTEM
OXYGEN SENSOR INSPECTION
(See Components for Removal and Installation)
1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (–) TERMINAL CABLE
FROM BATTERY
CAUTION: Work must be started after 90 seconds from
the time the ignition switch is turned to the 'LOCK'
position and the negative (–) terminal cable is discon–
nected from the battery.
2. INSPECT HEATER RESISTANCE OF SUB HEATED
OXYGEN SENSOR
(a) Remove the passenger's seat.
(b) Take out the consol box side of the floor carpet.
(c) Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
(d) Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between
the terminals + B and HT.
Resistance:
11 – 16 at 202 C (682 F)
If the resistance is not as specified, replace the
sensor.
(e) Reconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
(f) Reinstall the floor carpet.
(g) Reinstall the passenger's seat.
3. RECONNECT NEGATIVE (–) TERMINAL CABLE
TO BATTERY
