3 Since t he VLAN 2 net work is connect ed t o port 1 on t he Swit ch, select Fix e d t o configure port 1 t o
be a perm anent m em ber of t he VLAN only.
4 To ensure t hat VLAN- unaware devices ( such as com put ers and hubs) can receive fram es properly,
clear t he TX Ta gging check box t o set t he Swit ch t o rem ove VLAN t ags before sending.
5 Click Add t o save t he set t ings t o t he run- t im e m em ory. Set t ings in t he run- t im e m em ory are lost
when t he Swit ch's power is t urned off.

5.1.2 Setting Port VID

Use PVI D t o add a t ag t o incom ing unt agged fram es received on t hat port so t hat t he fram es are
forwarded t o t he VLAN group t hat t he t ag defines.
I n t he exam ple net work, configure 2 as t he port VI D on port 1 so t hat any unt agged fram es
received on t hat port get sent t o VLAN 2.
