29.1.2.3 Port State

Every port is eit her a t rust ed port or an unt rust ed port for t he PPPoE int erm ediat e agent . This
set t ing is independent of t he t rust ed/ unt rust ed set t ing for DHCP snooping or ARP inspect ion. You
can also specify t he agent sub- opt ions ( circuit I D and rem ot e I D) t hat t he Swit ch adds t o PADI and
PADR packet s from PPPoE client s.
Trust ed port s are connect ed t o PPPoE servers.
• I f a PADO ( PPPoE Act ive Discovery Offer) , PADS ( PP PoE Act ive Discovery Session- confirm at ion) ,
or PADT ( PPPoE Act ive Discovery Term inat e) packet is sent from a PPPoE server and received on
a t rust ed port , t he Swit ch forwards it t o all ot her port s.
• I f a PADI or PADR packet is sent from a PPPoE client but received on a t rust ed port , t he Swit ch
forwards it t o ot her t rust ed port ( s) .
Not e: The Swit ch will drop all PPPoE discovery packet s if you enable t he PPPoE
int erm ediat e agent and t here are no t rust ed port s.
Unt rust ed port s are connect ed t o subscribers.
• I f a PADI , PADR, or PADT packet is sent from a PPPoE client and received on an unt rust ed port ,
t he Swit ch adds a vendor- specific t ag t o t he packet and t hen forwards it t o t he t rust ed port ( s) .
• The Swit ch discards PADO and PADS packet s which ar e sent from a PPPoE server but received on
an unt rust ed port .
29.2 PPPoE Screen
Use t his screen t o configure t he PPPoE I nt erm ediat e Agent on t he Swit ch.
Click Adva nce d Applica t ion > PPPoE in t he navigat ion panel t o display t he screen as shown.
