8.10.5 IPv6 Link-Local Address Setup

A link- local address uniquely ident ifies a device on t he local net work ( t he LAN) . I t is sim ilar t o a
" privat e I P address" in I Pv4. You can have t he sam e link- local address on m ult iple int erfaces on a
device. A link- local unicast address has a predefined prefix of fe80: : / 10.
Use t his screen t o configure t he int erface's link- local address and default gat eway. Click t he link
next t o I Pv6 Link - Loca l Addr e ss Se t u p in t he I Pv6 Con figu r a t ion screen t o display t he screen
as shown next .

Click Apply t o save your changes t o t he Swit ch's run- t im e m em ory. The Swit ch loses t hese
changes if it is t urned off or loses power, so use t he Sa ve link on t he t op navigat ion panel t o
save your changes t o t he nonvolat ile m em ory when you are done configuring.
Click Ca n ce l t o begin configuring t his screen afresh.
Click Cle a r t o reset t he fields t o t he fact ory default s.
This is t he int erface index num ber. Click on an index num ber t o change t he set t ings.
