�GNITION SYSTEM
Cranl< the engine with the kiclcstarter and measure
Avoid touching the

PEAK VOLT AGE: 80 V minimum

shock.
If the peak voltage is lower than specified value, fol­
low the checks described in the troubleshooting
chart (page 1 7-4).
Install the removed parts in the reverse order of
removal.
NOTE:
IGNITION PULSE GENERATOR PEAl<
VOLTAGE
Check all system connections before inspection.
If the system is disconnected, incorrect peak volt­
age might be measured.
Check cylinder compression and make sure the
spark plug is installed correctly.
Remove the inner cover (page 3-5).
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Disconnect the engine control module (ECM) 26P
connector.
Connect the peak voltage adapter o r tester probes
to the wire harness side connector terminal and
body ground.
TOOLS:
lgnitionMate peak voltage tester (U.S.A. only) or
Peal< voltage adaptor
with commercially available digital multimeter
(impedance 10 MQ/DCV minimum) or lgnitionMate
peak voltage tester, MTP-08-0193 (U.S.A. only)
CONNECTION:
Blue/yellow (+) - Body ground H
Crank the engine with the kickstarter and measure
the ignition pulse generator peak voltage.
PEAK VOLT AGE: 0.7 V minimum
If the peak voltage measured at the ECM connector
is abnormal, measure the peak voltage at the pulse
generator connector.
