• dangle the mouse by its cable or throw the mouse at co-workers

• plug in all cables completely
• plug the workstation into a power surge protection strip (if possible)

Software Do's and Don'ts

When your system is up and running, follow these guidelines.
Do not
• turn off power to a workstation that is currently started up and running software
• use the root account unless you are performing administrative tasks
Do
• make regular backups (weekly for the whole system, nightly for individual users) of
all information
• protect the root account with a password
• protect all open accounts (such as lp, guest, and so on) with a password, if your
system is connected to the Internet
