9. DVD Option

The optional DVD-RAM drive allows the user to backup recorded surveillance events in one of the
three following methods.
Ø User backup•F The date and time when backup record performed specified by the user.
Ø Auto-backup•F All alarm events are automatically backup recorded upon occurrence.
Ø Timer backup•F Backup recording performed based on record settings made in the TIMER
PROGRAM menu.
If you are using the DVD option for the first time, note that the DVD RAM disks used for back up
must always be formatted before use. You will also have to make settings in the CDR-16T menus
that determine how your DVD option performs. To do this, refer to the items following. See sec. '9-3.
Formatting DVD' regarding formatting DVD RAM disk for backup use. See sec. '9-4. Clearing
Events' regarding clearing recorded data from previously used backup DVD RAM disks. See sec.
'9-5-2. Changing Disks During User Backup' or see '9-6-3. Changing Auto Backup Disk' regarding
disk changes.

9-1. DVD Option Information

The DVD option consists of a DVD drive installed to your CDR-16T and one (1) DVD-RAM disk.

Regarding DVD Drive Use
Use only the same type of DVD-RAM disk as received with your drive. Do not use any other type
of drive formats.

General DVD-RAM Disk Precautions
Keep DVD-RAM disks in storage cases when not in use.
Do not remove the DVD-RAM disk from the cartridge.
Do not affix other labels on top of original DVD-RAM label.
Keep DVD-RAM disk out of direct sunlight when removed from drive.

DVD Drive Maintenance
It is recommended to clean your drive lens approx. once every 1–3 months (Accumulated dust
build-up on lens can impair backup recording quality and/or function).
How often cleaning is required depends on environmental conditions and dust buildup. Use
LF-K123LCJ1 lens cleaner (Panasonic) is recommended.
Drive motor and pickup laser are subject to wear. If you
note possible problems with either of these items, consult
your CBC supplier regarding repairs.
