Operation and Troubleshooting
This chapter describes various operation, maintenance and troubleshooting related matters.
6.1
Checking the ETERNUS2000 Status
Check the status of the ETERNUS2000 regularly by checking its LEDs, or status display function of the
setting/maintenance program.
CAUTION
Also, Setting the device monitoring enables e-mail notification message or SNMP trap message of prob-
lems with the ETERNUS2000.
Using remote report service enables automatic notification of hardware failure to remote maintenance cen-
ter and enables problems to be resolved quickly.
6.2
Backing up Data
In case of a system failure, important data should be regularly backed up to a tape drive or similar device.

Impending trouble may be indicated by the warning message LEDs of the
ETERNUS2000. The LEDs should be checked regularly to prevent any
serious trouble from occurring.

We recommend that you backup important data regularly.
If the ETERNUS2000 fails and the data has not been backed up, it may
be lost.
