ETERNUS2000 disk storage system User Guide
• When operating with factory default settings, this setting is not
required. When changing the factory default setting, delete the fac-
tory setting (volume, RAID group, and LUN mapping) and then regis-
ter the HotSpare disk. For details on deleting the setting, refer to
"ETERNUS2000 ETERNUSmgr User Guide -Settings/Maintenance-".
• System disks cannot be registered as hot spare disks.
Do
• Be sure to register Hot Spare disks.
• The capacity of each HotSpare disk should be the same as that of the
largest capacity disk drive in the storage system.
If a mixture of SAS disk drives and Nearline SAS disk drives is installed
in the storage system, separate hot spare disks will be required for
each type of disk drive. Again, the capacity of each type of hot spare
disks must equal or exceed that of the largest capacity same-type disk
drives.
A smaller capacity disk is not usable as a HotSpare disk for a larger
capacity data disk.
Do Not
• Do not move disks that the RAID group or volume is set for, or that are
registered as Hot Spare disks, to another slot.
