System 5 Digital Audio Mixing System Operation Manual
Chapter 2: New Features in eMix Version 2.9
This section lists new and updated features in the eMix versions 2.9 software. Cross-
references link to that feature's discussion in the manual.
Linking
Linking allows altering the values of multiple parameters by changing the value of one
of them. Relative offsets are retained between linked continuous controls (fader, EQ,
frequency, etc.) so moving any member of a linked group causes all other members to
track the magnitude of that move relative to their start position.
See page 129.
Calibrated Control Room Settings
System 5 film and post clients have requested a calibrated CR level since the console
was first introduced. Post facilities usually operate at a calibrated monitor level, typi-
cally 85 dBSPL for theatrical film and 75 dBSPL for home theater applications (i.e.,
DVD mixing). The CR Output Panel now contains options to set this level.
See Calibrated CR Level Controls on page 67.
USB Support
The System 5 Computer now supports removable USB memory devices and drives. Re-
movable USB devices can be used to save titles and configuration data.
Aux Bus Configuration
Aux send parameters (unity, pre-/post-fader, on/off, stereo/mono) can now be quickly
set for multiple Aux sends. Level settings can be copied from Faders to Aux and from
Aux to Aux. It is also possible to control Aux sends from the faders. Aux Sends now have
a gain range from off to +12 dB to match the range of the channel fader.
See Configuring Aux Busses on page 91.
Fader Scale
There is a new optional fader scale that allows a larger range of motion around the 0 dB
mark.
