CHAPTER 5 TROUBLESHOOTING IMAGE FAULTS/MALFUNCTIONS

DC power supply PCB 1 (upper)
1) Is power present at J6297 on the laser scanner motor driver PCB?
NO:
Laser scanner motor driver PCB
DC controller PCB
2) Is there a fault in the connection between the laser scanner motor
YES: Re-connect it.
NO:

a. E194–xx01, xx02, xx03
1) Execute 'FUNC > INSTALL > REG-APER' in service mode.
YES: Go to step 4).
Transfer belt
2) Generate a test pattern (PG=07). Is the image position correction

3) Replace the image position correction CCD unit. Is the problem

Pattern position
4) Generate a test pattern (PG=06, grid). Is the discrepancy from the
YES: Adjust the position using 'FUNC > IMG-REG > C/Y/K-REG-H'

J6297-3 (+) — J6297-1 (–): 35V
J6297-4 (+) — J6297-2 (–): 35V
Check the wiring: if normal, replace the DC power supply PCB 1
(upper).

Is there a fault in the connection between J2208B on the DC con-
troller PCB and J6037 on the laser scanner motor driver PCB?
Replace the following parts in the order indicated:
• DC controller PCB
• Laser scanner motor unit
• Laser scanner motor driver
Is the execution normal?
pattern normal?
Check the transfer belt where the image position correction pattern
is formed; if there are scratches, replace the transfer belt. Other-
wise, perform the instructions given for image adjustments.
corrected?
Replace the DC controller PCB.
M pattern in main scanning direction?
and 'C/Y/K-REG-HS' in service mode
Thereafter, be sure to execute 'FUNC > INSTALL > REG-APER'.
Adjust the position using 'FUNC > IMG-REG-V' in service mode.
Thereafter, be sure to execute 'FUNC > INSTALL > REG-APER'.
