This chapter provides information to aid you in resolving printer problems you may
encounter, or at least guide you to the proper sources for help. You'll find in this chap-
ter tables of common status messages, a problem checklist, and actions you should
take when a specific problem occurs. There are descriptions of common print quality
problems with corresponding solutions. You'll also find the information you'll need to
have before placing a service call if one becomes necessary.
The QMS Answer Base is a free interactive online technical support system for the
QMS magicolor 2+. It answers common questions and provides diagnostic advice. To
access the Answer Base, go to http://www.qms.com/support, and then select Answer
Base.
The Answer Base helps you locate the information you need by asking you questions.
In fact, it can provide results even when you don't quite know what to ask for or how to
find it. Use the Answer Base before contacting technical support—you will likely find
the answer to your question. However, if the answer is not available, you will be pro-
vided with specific QMS contact information to help solve your problem.

If you see this...
Colors aren't registering
properly.
CHECK WASTE TONER
message appears in the
message window.
Printouts seem faded on
one side of the page.
It's probably because...
The OPC belt cartridge is
not pushed all the way in.
The waste toner pack isn't
properly installed.
The printer is not on a level
enough surface.
Do this...
Repeat the steps in "D. Installing the
OPC Belt Cartridge," in the Installation
Guide .
Make sure it sits loosely in its com-
partment and that the top of the pack is
not wedged under the top of the
compartment.
Level the printer surface. The slant of the
surface holding the printer should not
exceed 1.5° after the printer is placed on
it (for example, a round pencil laid on the
surface shouldn't roll in any direction).
