COMMAND SUMMARY
INTERACTIVE BATCH FILES
The ASK Command
NOTE: You do not need to know how this
command works to use the Turbo.
It
is
documented here because it is a handy
command you may want to use in your own
batch files.
FORMAT:
ASK
[/R)
message
ARGUMENTS:
IR
(optional) - Requires a carriage
return after the response. The user must
press <Enter> after typing Yes Or No.
message - The message will be displayed
during batch file execution. This will
usually be a question with a
YIN
answer.
USAGE:
Can be used in batch files you create to ask
the user if a command should be performed.
The message placed after the ASK command
will be displayed prompting the user to
respond by typing Y or N (and pressing <Enter>
if
IR
is specified).
Typing Y (upper or lower case) in response to
the question will cause ASK to set the DOS
error level to 1. This does not mean that an
error has occurred, simply that a variable
called error level is set to 1.
