COMMANDSUMMARY
USAGE:
This command is automatically called when
you enter Turbo mode.
(It
can also be
placed in HOSTEXEC.BA T or typed from_
the keyboard in host mode to invoke
caching in host mode.)
Caching improves the speed of disks by
saving disk data in RAM memory where it
can be accessed instantly. Caching is
somewhat like a RAM disk that is
automatically saved onto a real disk.
It
is almost as fast as a RAM disk and it is
not volatile.
The Orchid CACHE program uses an
intelligent algorithm to determine the
data that is likely to be needed soon.
It
keeps this data in memory ready for
instant access.
It
bases its
determination on such factors as: the
most recently used data; the data that is
logically adjacent to it; and data that
was recently written to disk.
NOTES:
All available memory on the host system
will be allocated for caching while you
are using the PCturbo 286e. When you
switch back to the host by typing
uuturbo, the cache will disappear to
leave memory for the program you will be
running on the host.
Typing CACHE with no parameters displays
a list of the current configuration.
