The subindex contains flags for controlling the sending and saving of diagnostic mes-
sages.
Bit 0: Enable emergency messages

11.2.1.7 Subindexes 6–69: Diagnosis Message (Write-Protected)
Depending on subindex 1, the EtherCAT slave can store up to 64 diagnostic messages.
In the process, the first message is stored in subindex 6, the second in subindex 7 etc.
When the buffer is full, the EtherCAT slave overwrites subindex 6 etc., so the last diag-
nostic messages are accessible to the EtherCAT master. The exact number of them is in-
dicated by subindex 1.

Default, if the device cannot send emergency messages
New diagnostic messages are sent as emergency messages.
Info messages are stored in the diagnostic message queue.
Info messages are not stored in the diagnostic message queue.
Warnings are stored in the diagnostic message queue.
Warnings are not stored in the diagnostic message queue.
Error messages are stored in the diagnostic message queue.
Error messages are not stored in the diagnostic message queue.
Overwrite mode: If the buffer is full, old diagnostic messages are overwritten by new
ones.
Acknowledgment mode: New diagnostic messages only overwrite older messages if the
latter have been previously acknowledged.
Unacknowledged diagnostic messages have been overwritten (= buffer overflow).
Subindex 3 was also set to 0.
The buffer for diagnostic messages is full of acknowledged messages, and a new diag-
nostic message is discarded.
