Setting Call On Demand (COD) Parameters

Call On Demand may reduce usage costs by connecting the line only when a call occurs. COD only applies
to the first B channel (digital phone) and is independent of the second B channel (fax/data port).
When setting Call On Demand, please refer to the COD Mode descriptions below to determine which mode
would best fit your system. The available modes are:
Ring Mode: Reactivates the line connection when a ring command from the PBX or an off-hook/key-press
command at the remote site causes the remote telephone to leave COD Waiting. It reestablishes the connec-
tion between the Switch and Remote Modules.
Note: This setting will cause the telephone to enter into COD waiting after no telephone usage and the spec-
ified timeout interval has passed. This may cause your telephone to enter COD waiting at some unexpected
interval such as when for a call is parked. This can be avoided using COD lamp mode.
Lamp Mode: Reactivates the line connection when one of the lamps selected to be monitored turns on or an
off-hook/key-press command at the remote site causes the remote telephone to leave COD Waiting. It rees-
tablishes the connection between the Switch and Remote Modules and stays connected when Monitored
lamp is active, thereby providing normal PABX operability.
Setting Call Timeout
Call Timeout sets the length of time the phone must be inactive before the modules will terminate the ISDN
connection and go into COD mode.
Voice Path Mode: Choose this mode when you are using a Call Master III or IV display telephone is set to
auto-answer in the DEFINITY ECS. You will also need to set ACD tone in the DEFINITY Extender.
Accessing the Set COD Parameters menu allows you further access the these sub-menus:

Set Call Timeout
Set Connect Timeout
Set Data Monitor (for Serial Data Type only)
