extender is sending data that must be forwarded across the ISDN line, the connection will remain
active. If the DOD timer expires without any packets having been sent across the ISDN link, the
connection will be brought down. Any packets received across the ISDN link will not keep the
ISDN link active.
Transmit/Receive Any – In this mode, as long as the extender must send or is receiving packets
across the ISDN link, the connection will remain active. For DOD to disconnect the call in this
mode, the DOD timer must have expired without any packets having been sent or received on the
ISDN link.
Transmit/Receive Local – In this mode, as long as the extender must send packets across the ISDN
link, or as long as it is receiving packets destined for a system connected to the LAN port (i.e. the
packet's destination MAC address can be found in the remote extender's local address table), the
connection will remain active. For DOD to disconnect the call in this mode, the DOD timer must
have expired without any packets having been sent or packets destined for a known system on the
local LAN having been received on the ISDN link. Note that received broadcast packets, or
received packets destined for a system whose MAC address is not present in the local address table
will not keep the link active-This is the recommended Data-On-Demand mode if DOD is to be
enabled.

Data-On-Demand Timeout

As mentioned in the previous section, DOD will disconnect the ISDN data connection after a specified
period of "inactivity". The DOD timeout specifies that time interval. The default value for the DOD timeout
is 60 seconds.
Valid entries are between 1 and 65000 seconds.

Configure Bridging

The bridge configuration on the remote extender consists of only one item, the Local Address Timeout. This
parameter is identical to that configured for the office EXTender.

Local Address Timeout

This Local Address Timeout is used to specify the length of time, in minutes, a PC workstation address will
remain in the LAN address table without a packet having been received from that address.
The default for Local Address Timeout is 5 minutes. Valid entries are between 1 and 255 minutes.
