Basic Installation
Using BOOTP
in UNIX
Follow these steps to download the IP address using the BOOTP
method:
1. Append the following entry to your boot table. This is typically
performed by editing the file
<host name>:ht=<hardware type>:vm=<vendor magic>:\
:ha=<hardware address>:ip=<Internet address>:\
:sm=<subnet mask>:gw=<gateway field>
where:
for Ethernet
ether
ht
vm
rfc1048
The Ethernet or node address, i.e. the AXIS 7000/FX serial number
ha
The IP address of the AXIS 7000/FX
ip
The subnet mask
sm
The default router address
gw
Example:
spserv:ht=ether:vm=rfc1048:\
:ha=00408c24c01c:ip=172.16.253.80:\
:sm=255.255.0.0:gw=172.16.253.254
2. If necessary, update your host table and alias name databases as
required by your system.
3. Start the BOOTP daemon, if it is not already running. This is typically
performed using the command
4. Restart the AXIS 7000/FX to download the IP address, default router
address and subnet mask.
Notes:
BOOTP is enabled by default but can be disabled by an Administrator
using the System Settings page.
