    The AXIS 700 connects scanners to Ethernet networks. How it Works The AXIS 700 is connected as a node in an Ethernet network, enabling scanners to be accessed through the network, via Internet and intranet-related protocols. It can be used independently of file servers, i.e.
  • Page 9 Scanning can be performed from a Web browser, but you can also use the AXIS 700 user interface to scan to an e-mail address or to a file on an FTP server. These methods cover a whole range of network environments and application needs.

    To establish communication with the TCP/IP environment, you must assign an Internet address and make up a unique host name for your AXIS 700. The Internet address can be set from Windows (via a DOS window), OS/2, UNIX, or from the AXIS 700 user interface.

    Section 4: Using the AXIS 700 Section 4 Using the AXIS 700 Scanning Methods Due to the diversity of organizations and their needs, the AXIS 700 has been designed to offer a variety of distribution methods, which should suit most situations.
  • Page 39 Section 4: Using the AXIS 700 Scanning to a Web browser is convenient for users that infrequently Scan-to-Web scan. Data is sent directly between the AXIS 700 and the user, i.e. browser peer-to-peer. This results in minimum network load, and normally no data will be sent over the backbone of the network.

    Follow these steps to scan to your Web browser: 1. Start the Web browser. 2. Enter the host name or Internet address of the AXIS 700 on the Location/Address line and press Enter. We recommend that you add the address as a bookmark, or as a link on the department’s or workgroup’s Web page.
