EAP-related Errors
Interpreting EAP Errors
101-1830-001
Issue 1.0
EAP (external application processor) errors are errors on the Sierra/CA.
Events may occur on the APS that are not perceived as errors until the
event reaches the Sierra/CA. This section discusses such errors.
The status log file on the Sierra/CA collects EAP-related errors in the
VPM. These errors reflect both APS platform errors and APS application
errors. If APS goes down or sends an invalid packet, an EAP error is
generated on the Sierra/CA. Refer to the "Sierra Service Manual, Edition
5" for information on how to resolve Sierra/CA problems.
The entry formats for status code 24 are unusual in several ways. First,
they are of varying length. Second, they use data type and value pairs.
The data type field holds a code that identifies the kind of data in the
following data value field.
The book Sierra Service Manual, Edition 5 contains information on errors
related to applications external to the Sierra/CA system. The material
there is paraphrased below for your convenience.
The Sierra/CA system generates an entry in the status log file with a status
code of 24 for events occurring when the Sierra/CA is communicating
through an X.25 link with an EAP such as APS 4.1 and any of its
applications.
Figure 78 shows an example of a status code 24 entry in the Sierra/CA
status log file.
