Changing an SS7
Configuration File
101-1830-001
Issue 1.0
While it's unlikely that you will need to create new SS7 configuration
files, there may be situations where you need to change one. For example,
if you need to add destination point codes to the HLR_profile table for
your application, you will need to edit the SS7 configuration file.
The configuration file that the Auto_Init process looks for must be named
aps.cfg. The SS7 configuration file must have this name.
To change an SS7 configuration file:
1. Copy aps.cfg to aps.cfg.sav
2. Use vi and open the aps.cfg configuration file.
SS7 config files are located in /export/home0/issg/issg_
main/issg_lib/libss7drv/cfg.
Make appropriate changes, save the file, and quit. This step needs
to be performed by an experienced technician or Lucent engineer.
More information about changing an SS7 configuration file can
be found in the APS 4.1 Advanced Users Guide inside the Lucent
fire wall.
If you need to add more destination point codes to the HLR_
profile table, the engineer must make some adjustments to the
SS7 configuration file. To the aps.cfg file:
n
Add a new node
n
Add a new link set
n
Add a new link to the new link set
n
Add a new route
n
Add a new SNSP
n
Add a new subsystem
3. Test the changes.
