Polyline
A series of connected X-Y points, sometimes referred to as a "curve." This is the
basic 2-D geometry used by most rapid prototyping systems.
Pre-Flow
A rate of material flow that is used before the head starts to move.
Purge
The manual or automatic cleaning and removal of unwanted material from the
liquefier and tip.
Rapid Prototyping
Fabrication of a physical three-dimensional part directly from a
CAD model, using a layering build technique.
Raster
A fill type consisting of a series of linked, straight line segments,
trimmed to follow the contour of a part. The raster segments are
uniformly spaced. The figure at right shows a circle with a raster fill pattern.
Release Material (See Alternate Material)
Reset Button
Clears the machine after the Emergency Stop button has been pressed. It is lo-
cated next to the Emergency Stop button.
Rollback
A value used within SML code to turn back the drive wheels of the FDM head
after laying down a road of material.
Shading
The process of adding shading, colors, reflectivity, texture, etc. to a graphically
displayed model to make it appear realistic. Sculptured Surface
Set Origin Button
Do not use this button. Pushing this button during a ;build could possible cause
your entire part to shift and fail.
Shutoff Distance
The distance from the end of a road required to shut off the flow of material.
Slice
A single Z-layer in an SSL file. It is made up of one or more curves.
