Changing Filament during a Part Build in the FDM
When the FDM Modeler runs out of material during a part build, the modeler will pause,
the head will be park in the front of the build envelope and a "filament out" message

spool and resume the part build.
Clearing Remaining Material
1. Press the "Enter" button on the control panel keypad to clear the display screen.
2. Open the door panel in the back of the FDM to verify which spool is empty.
3. Verify that the tip with the empty spool is selected.
4. Press the "UNLOAD" button on the keypad to unload filament from the FDM head
liquefier.
5. Allow the machine to unload the filament for 10 seconds.
6. Press the "UNLOAD" button again, to toggle it off.
7. Unlatch and open the dry box.
8. Remove the empty spool.
9. Pull the filament out from the back of the dry box, between the sensor and box.
*** If you are not able to reach the filament through the dry box, then follow
1. Open the build envelope door.
2. Unlatch and open the FDM liquefier head.
3. Pull the filament out from the front of the machine.
4. Toggle to the other liquefier tip on the keypad.
5. Press the "LOAD" button to start loading material.
6. As the filament is purging through the tip, slowly close the head. Closing the head

can cause a torque limit.
7. Secure the head latches.
8. Press the "LOAD" button to cease loading.
Loading New Material
1. Inspect the new spool of filament carefully. Make sure it is free of kinks and nicks.
If you are using ABS, ABSi, or Elastomer, make sure to take a spool from a sealed
bag. Undo any tangles or overwraps.
2. Cut off any kinks or nicks with a snippy cutter.
3. Open the back panel and dry box door.
Notes
these procedures. ***
Wear Safety Glasses to obstruct flying debris into your eyes and
protective gloves when reaching into the build chamber.
