FDM Z-stage Lubrication
The following procedures describe how to lubricate the FDM 1600, 1650,
2000, 3000 and 8000 Z-stage lead screws and guide rods. The Z-stage
lead screws and guide rods should be lubricated monthly to ensure
continued, optimal performance. If you have questions about the proce-
dure contact Stratasys customer support at 952-906-2283.
Before You Start
A high temperature Teflon lubricant must be used to lubricate the Z-
stage lead screws and guide rods. Stratasys recommends "Krytox". Do not
use any other type of lubricant. If you are unable to locate this type of
lubricant, contact Stratasys customer support.
WARNING! The interior components of the FDM are hot! Prior
to removing and applying lubricant, lower the temperature of
the model, support and envelope Watlows to zero degrees,
and wait for the FDM to cool down to a safe working tem-
perature. You can open the envelope door to speed up the
cooling process. To avoid injury, make sure you use the
safety gloves supplied with your lubrication kit.
