Install the low speed mixture needle into the
hole in the side of the carburetor body, Fig.
111-20.
Seat the low speed mixture needle.

CAUTION
e
The low speed mixture needle is to be seated
(closed) finger tight only - DO NOT USE A
SCREWDRIVER. Forcing the needle
will
cause
damage to the needle and seat.

Note: Dished side of metal packing ring is to
face toward the rubber packing washer and
the carburetor body.

Install the high speed mixture needle into the
hole in the top of the carburetor body, Fig.
111-20.
Seat the high speed mixture needle.

CAUTION
e
The high speed mixture needle is to be seated
(closed) finger tight only - DO NOT USE A
SCREWDRIVER. Forcing the needle will cause
damage to the needle and seat.

F rom the seated position, rotate the low
speed mixture needle 1 turn counterclockwise
to open.
15.
From a seated position, rotate the high
speed
mixture
needle
1-1/4
turns
counterclockwise to open.

Note: The mixture needle settings
est~bl~shed
in steps 14 and 15 are only preliminary
settings and are to be used to initially start the
engine after carburetor overhaul is performed. The
carburetor is to be fine tuned under actual running
conditions to ensure optimum performance.
