TROUBLE SHOOTING

Problem
Condition Remedy
C) Check the sealing pin
springs and side seal
springs. Replace if
damaged or deteriorated
(see II Engine Servicing,
I nspect Rotor Sealing
Component Springs,
page 11-22).
D)
I nstall all components
in rotor. Check side seal
end play by pushing seal
against sealing pin. End
play is to be 0.010 inch.
E)
Using a blunt instrument,
depress the seal ing pin.
Top of sealing pin must
fall below the top sur-
face of the rotor. When
released, top of sealing
pin is to extend above
the surface of the rotor.

A)
Remove apex seals and
washed clean (absence of spri ngs. Decarbon ize
carbon) along either side apex seal, spring and
of the apex seal. groove.
B)
Place wearing surface of
the apex seals together,
press together on each
end and hold up to the
light. No light is to be
evident between the
wearing surfaces.
C)
Measure the apex seals
(see II Engine Servicing,
I nspect Apex Seals,
Sealing Pins and Side
Seals, page 11-21).
D)
Check the apex seal
spring. Replace if
damaged or deteriorated.
E)
Install apex seal spring
and apex seal in the
rotor. Seal must not
bind or stick in the
groove. Check apex
seal side play with
feeler gauge. Side play
to be 0.0098.
