4.6 POST Code Indication

POST (Power On Self Test) is the function performed by the system power-on BIOS routine
that checks if the computer hardware such as memory, hard disk and keyboard has any fault.
Connecting the power supply to the Equipment causes the CPU to sequentially load the
contents of the BIOS ROM on the motherboard. If any fault is found, the digital LED for
status indication located in front of the Equipment shows a POST code corresponding to the
fault location, along with a message on the monitor screen or several beeps, thus notifying
the user of a fault detection. The digital LED for status indication shows POST codes
during the startup of the Equipment.
The digital LED for status indication comprises 7-segment panels and status target
identification LEDs. The display content on these components may be carried over even in
the standby state after the shutdown, until the mains power is disconnected (by detaching the
input power cord plug from the outlet) or until the mains power is recycled (by keeping the
POWER switch pressed for four seconds or longer and then pressing the same switch again).
Note: For details of the other codes such as RAS status code, see Section 7.1, "Overview of
RAS Features" in this manual and HF-W2000 Model 35/30 RAS Features Manual.
POST codes on the digital LED for status indication are shown with the status target
identification LED for BIOS (orange) turned on. The codes are represented by the upper
and lower digits in hexadecimal numbers 0 through F as illustrated below.
