8.4 Notes on Power Options of Windows® 7
(1) Link state power management setting of PCI Express
Do not change the link state power management setting of PCI Express (Link State
Power Management under PCI Express under Advanced settings under Power
Options) from the default "Off". Otherwise, the onboard LAN may become unable to
communicate or the system may hang during communications using the onboard LAN.
(2) How to avoid unintended turning off of the display screen
Even if you set Turn off the display to Never, the screen may still turn off because the
High Performance plan is temporarily activated by the Windows Experience Index
running in the background. If you wish to avoid such unintended turning off of the
display screen, turn off automatic execution of the Windows Experience Index according
to the procedure below.
1. Log on to the local computer as a member of the Administrators group unless you have
already logged on as such.
2. Click Start and click Control Panel.
3. In the "Control Panel" window, click System and Security.
4. In the "System and Security" window navigated from the "Control Panel" window,
click Administrative Tools.
5. In the "Administrative Tools" window navigated from the "System and Security"
window, double-click Task Scheduler.
6. In the tree view of the left pane of the "Task Scheduler" window, sequentially click
Task Scheduler Library, Microsoft, Windows, and Maintenance.
