b. Flow Control: Enables adapters to generate or respond to flow control frames,
which help regulate network traffic. Since the default setting varies depending on
the combination of the OS and LAN adapter interface, change the setting according
to your network environment.
< NOTE >
In the event that the LAN driver is placed in the stopped state due to a system
failure such as OS lock-up, the receive queue may reach a pre-defined limit due to
unprocessed broadcast frames and the like received from the other machines. In
this situation, the Equipment would continuously transmit flow control frames and
affect the entire networks to which the Equipment connects if "Generate" or
"Generate & Respond" is selected for the flow control value. When necessary,
disable the flow control by this Equipment or disable the flow control by the hub to
which the Equipment connects. Furthermore, apply an appropriate network design
to avoid possible overload, because receipt of excessive frames beyond the
predefined limit without flow control will cause overload and excessive frames will
be continuously discarded until resolution of such overload.
c. Interrupt Moderation Rate: Sets the rate at which the controller moderates or
delays the generation of interrupts making it possible to minimize network
throughput and CPU utilization.
