4.7 Timer

The Equipment has a built-in timer based on an RTC (real-time clock) IC. The timer
contains a calendar component, which continuously runs with battery backup even if the
power supply is turned off.

While the system is running, the system time is managed by the software (system program)
timer called cyclic timer which updates other internal timers (also software timers). On the
other hand, the built-in timer is read for time setting when the system is started up.
< NOTE >
 The Equipment uses a lithium battery. When disposing of it, follow local laws and
regulations whatever applicable.
 Persons other than customer engineer must not replace the lithium battery. The lithium
battery replacement will reset the system time and BIOS settings.
Possible error cause and action to be taken
Fault in main memory or fault in the CPU is suspect. Check if main memory is
properly mounted.
Fault in a boot device is suspect. Check if the HDDs and the DVD drive are properly
mounted.
Fault in the CPU is suspect.
Fault in an extended board is suspect. Check if the problem persists in a different slot.
Read the manual of the extended device.
Video function is not operating normally. Check if the cable connection is correct
and, when a video board is installed in the extended slot, check if it is properly
mounted.
Fault in a storage medium (e.g., HDD or USB memory) is suspect. Check if storage
media are properly mounted.
Fault in a USB device is suspect. Check if the cable connections are correct and the
USB devices are not faulty.
Fault in the keyboard, the mouse, or a serial device is suspect. Check if the cable
connections are correct, and check if these devices are not faulty.
Fault in the keyboard or the mouse is suspect. Check if the cable connections are
correct, and check if the keyboard and the mouse are not faulty.
Fault in main memory is suspect. Check if main memory is properly mounted.
Rotation of the power supply fan is abnormal. Check if the fan is operating normally.
Rotation of the front fan is abnormal. Check if the fan is operating normally.
A backup HDD is physically installed. Disconnect the power supply to the
Equipment and physically deinstall the backup HDD.
