Notes on the ignition lock

& WARNING Risk of accident and injury
due to children left unattended in the
vehicle
If children are left unattended in the vehicle,
they could:
Open doors, thereby endangering other

persons or road users.
Get out and be struck by oncoming traf‐

fic.
Operate vehicle equipment and become

trapped, for example.
In addition, the children could also set the
vehicle in motion, for example by:
Releasing the parking brake.

Changing the transmission position.
R
Starting the vehicle.
R
Never leave children unattended in the

vehicle.
When leaving the vehicle, always take

the key with you and lock the vehicle.
Keep the vehicle key out of reach of
#
children.

If you switch off the ignition while driving,

Ignition lock on the steering column

You will then need to use considerably more
force to steer and brake.
Do not switch off the ignition while driv‐

ing.
& WARNING Risk of accident due to inad‐
vertent turning of the key in the ignition
lock
If you attach large or heavy objects to the key,
the key could inadvertently turn in the ignition
lock while the vehicle is in motion.
This could cause the engine to be switched
off, for example.
Do not attach any large or heavy objects

to the key.
Remove a key ring if it is cumbersome

before you insert the key in the ignition
lock.
