Coral FlexiCom 6000 Installation Manual
MPG-ATS to PBD-ATS Connections
The MPG-ATS piggyback card on the Control Shelf backplane provides two sets of
connectors for each of the peripheral shelf units. Each set contains connectors marked:
P1 to P8 corresponding to the 32GC installed on the right side of the Control
Shelf. These are wired to P3 of each PBD-ATS.
P9 to P16 corresponding to the 32GC installed on the left side of the Control
Shelf. These are wired to P2 of each PBD-ATS.
Wiring between the MPG-ATS and PBD-ATS
1. Locate the even shelves that have not yet been connected to the MPG-ATS by
searching for unconnected PBD-ATS cards on the system backplane. At least
one FC19 cable is required for each even shelf.
For Redundant systems (i.e. two 32GCs installed on the Control Shelf), two
FC19 cables are required for each even shelf not yet connected.
2. Connect one side of a FC19 cable to the next free MPG-ATS P1, P2,..., P8
connector by pushing it onto the pins until the connector locks onto the pins.
For Redundant systems, connect another FC19 cable to its Pn pair (between
P9 and P15) with the same Unit number as the first.
The MPG-ATS connectors are paired as follows:
P1 and P9: Unit 0
P2 and P10: Unit 1
P3 and P11: Unit 2
P4 and P12: Unit 3
For a completely non-blocking system, the manufacturer recommends
connecting Unit 3 (P4 and P12) only for systems with more than 14 shelves.
Additionally, the technician should avoid installing the following cards in
slots 1-4 of Peripheral Unit 3 (shelves #6 and 7) in the Coral
FlexiCom 6000: 24SA, 24SLS, 24SDT, 24SFT, 30T/x, T1, PRI-24, PRI-30,
IPG, UGW, UGW-E, and PUGW.
3. The MPG-ATS card is surrounded by ground leads for each Pn connector.
Connect the FC19 ground wire to the closest GNDn lead, see
4. Connect the other side of the first FC19 cable to the next available PBD-ATS
P3 connector until locked into place.
For Redundant systems, connect the other side of the second FC19 cable to the
same PBD-ATSs P2 connector.
P5 and P13: Unit 4
P6 and P14: Unit 5
P7 and P15: Unit 6
P8 and P16: Unit 7
