Switching between System Sides

The Active side may be on the left or right side of the Control Shelf, as displayed in
the above table. All updates to the HSB system must be performed from the Active
side. This may be easily determined by viewing the screen of Root Menu on the PI
Terminal. The PI states which system side it is monitoring by displaying either
ACTIVE, STANDBY, MAINTENANCE or FAULTY. The physical Active system
side is readily viewed from the 32GC card front panel indicators for Active, Standby,
Faulty or Maintenance, see

Determining the Physical Active System Side:
1. From either PI terminal of the HSB system, access the HSB branch by typing
HSB from anywhere in the PI or enter 0,11 from the Root Menu.
2. The PI prompts:
0-Update
1-Display
Enter 1 to display the parameters and their current values.
3. The PI immediately displays all the parameters describing the HSB setup.
Table 4-4
includes a list of all the PI parameters for the HSB branch with a
short description of each parameter.
4. View the following read-only parameter,
CONTROL (0,1) -
If the value for Control is 0 , the current Active side is located on the right side
of the Control Shelf. If the value is 1 , it is located on the left side.
