Hardware Installation Procedure
Verify that the positive and negative power conductors are NOT connected to the
–48VDC power source or energized in any way. Route the power cable through the left
cable entry (as viewed from the rear) at either top or bottom, taking care not to let the
free end of the cable cause damage by swinging loose, making contact with another
electrical power connection, or striking the card connector pins on the cabinet
backplane.
4. If the cable enters the cabinet from above, leave approximately 18 inches
(45cm) of power cable at the top of the cabinet to reach the DC power
terminals.
If the power cable enters the cabinet from below, route the cable through the
bottom port entry, and up along the left frame member of the backplane, using
cable ties through tie slots along the frame to secure the cable. Route the cable
through the port on the top of the cabinet behind the cable clamps.
illustrates the power input cavity area. Let approximately 18 inches (45cm) of
power cable exit the top of the cabinet to reach the DC power terminals.
5. Carefully remove approximately 12 inches (30cm) of jacket from the power
cable to expose the insulated power and earth ground conductors.
6. Route the yellow/green earth ground conductor through the left (smaller) cable
clamp in the Cable Guide above the two SGND terminal lugs on the left side
of the Power Input Card in the power input cavity. The Cable Guide may be
removed to ease the insertion of the conductors into the power input cavity.
see
Figure
2-5.
7. Route the red positive conductor through the right (larger) cable clamp in the
Cable Guide above the 48V RTN IN terminal lug on the Power Input Card in
the power input cavity.
8. Route the black negative conductor through the right (larger) cable clamp in
the Cable Guide above the –48V IN terminal lug on the Power Input Card in
the power input cavity.
9. Use a #1 (1/4"or 8mm) straight-blade screwdriver to tighten the three cables.
10. Use cable ties to secure each of the conductors to the Cable Tie-Off Bracket
on the top of the cabinet, leaving sufficient slack in each conductor to prevent
strain.
11. Replace the Power Input Cavity Cover and screw into place.
